Cookware Let's take a look at cookware. Pots, pans, enamel, stainless steel, so many choices! What your pots and pans are made of makes a difference on how long it will last, how much heat you need, the utensils you can use, how easy the clean-up is and most importantly how much you spend. If you spend $40.00 on a 12 peice cookware set chances are in a year or two you'll need a new set of pots and pans! The up side to this is if you are just starting out on your own and don,t have alot to spend for on you first set of pots and pans, you can purchase a cheaper set of cookware and upgrade later! Points to ponder By far the best thing to happen to cookware since cast iron is the non stick surface! The only problem with that is you need to cook over a moderate heat, be very careful about the utensils you use, and wash them out gently. One scratch and you can kiss the non stick good-bye! However, alot of the non stick cookware is an economical God send when you're just starting out. For those looking to buy an exeptional set of cookware, I have found the new 9 ply pots and pans are awesome! They heat evenly, my set doesn't stick, I can cook anything in them and it turns out great. This cookware is a bit spendy but well worth the price. It will last for years, it's easy to clean, it would be a great gift for a wedding or house warming! Another type the enamel ware, has been around for quite some time. This cookware can be found in different colors and designs, and is durable. The pots and pans are in a mid range as far as cost goes, but these can also last for a very long time. Enamel cookware tends a stick if you use a higher heat, but if that happens just add some hot water and a table spoon of salt boil for 3-5 minutes wash as usual and it's good as new! (A trick I learned from my Grandmother!) For those that like to cook a little healthier, I have found some cookware for you too! (I have a page dedicated to healthy cookware be sure to look it over for products you can add to your kitchen) With some of the 9 ply cookware and the nonstick cookware you can cook without all the added fats by cooking on a lower heat.
